2017 Rock n Roll


February each year, in the arts and entertainment world brings around the Grammy Awards and in the run up the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame entrants are also celebrated. Musicians are only eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after they first publish a single or album. It is known within the music industry as the pinnacle of any musician’s career and is decided and voted for by all current living inductees, music industry insiders and a whole host of music related historians.


2017 will be no different with Sly Stone, ELO and Nina Simone winning lifetime honours from The Grammys aswell as The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Also inducted into the Rock Hall will be Pearl Jam, hip hop artist Tupac Shakur and folk singer Joan Baez., Tupac being only the fifth ever hip-hop artist recognized. It is however his 25th anniversary since his first release so his first opportunity to enter. The Grammys Special Merit awards will go to legendary funk artist, Sly Stallone and Andy Warhols collaboration, Velvet Underground. Organizers stated that Velvet Underground ‘’were ahead of their time, both visually and sonically.’’And of Sly Stone they were quoted as saying he played ‘’a critical role in the developement of soul, funk and Psychedelia.


Last to be awarded in 2017 will be Nina Simone. The legendary Jazz musician and singer became famous in the 1950s. She died back in 2003 but will be well remembered by many for hits such as ‘I put a spell on you’’ and ‘Feeling Good’.


The star studded ceremonies and parties will be in February 2017.
